秦王政稱始皇帝，建立秦（前221～前206年） 孔雀帝國第三代王阿育王統治時期（前269～前232年），帝國進入繁盛時代。

前187年孔雀帝國滅亡後，古印度的歷史一是長期模糊不清；二是外族不斷入侵。先後有大夏希臘人、塞種人、安息人、大月氏人。其中只有中國所稱西域的大月氏人在古印度西北部建立了穩固的政權‐‐貴霜帝國。

前3～前1世紀 前209年，陳勝、吳廣於蘄縣大澤鄉（今安徽宿州西南）起義。
